2015 Infiniti Q50 performance and handling

The 3.7-liter, dual-overhead-cam, 24-valve V6 in the Infiniti Q50 produces 268 lb-ft of torque and 328 horsepower.

Q50's seven-speed automatic transmission works effectively with the limited-slip differential driving the back wheels, despite the lack of a manual option.

Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL), Nissan's take on continuously variable timing

was initially used in the Infiniti VQ series engine. the Q50's VVEL greatly enhances responsiveness while balancing power and fuel efficiency.

It still ranked below average in its class, though, with an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the interstate.

A 7,500 rpm redline and an 11:1 compression ratio,

however, made it well-suited for accelerating quickly.
