2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV: Small changes and a big deal

After hearing about a reported fire in the B-pillar region of a Bolt EV sold in Korea, GM learned of the problem in September.

The carmaker chose to carry out a voluntary recall after discovering a total of three

"possibly relevant field occurrences," according to the report submitted to NHTSA.

The solution isn't very complex. To stop the carpet from igniting, dealerships will put metal foil between

the pretensioner exhaust and the carpet. In certain variants, the pretensioner may additionally have

a thermal cover fitted over it to further strengthen fire safety measures. Owners need to get first-class mail about it

in late January after dealers are informed about it this month.
