Chevrolet Recalling 140,000 2017-2023 Bolt EVs for Possible Fire Risk

Following the reporting of three separate small fires, GM and Chevrolet have chosen to voluntarily recall 

almost 140,000 Chevrolet Bolt EVs from the model years 2017–2023.

111,242 of the cars were sold in the United States, and the majority of the rest were in Canada. 

A carpet fire was brought on by an issue with the seatbelt pretensioner following a collision.

GM learned about the fire danger.  "On September 15, 2022, a report of a 2018 model year Chevrolet Bolt EV in Korea that had a fire that seemed to have originated in 

the right-side lower B-pillar region led to the submission of this issue to GM's Speak Up For Safety (SUFS) programme. The inquiry was started by GM on October 24, 2022.
