The production of the Ford F-150 Lightning electric pickup is underway
Given that the Rouge Complex is where the business perfected its manufacturing line, Bill Ford, Ford Executive Chair, called the facility a "appropriate background,
Ford has placed orders for the less priced trims of the F-150 Lightning on hold, and there are currently presently over 200,000 reservations for the vehicle.
Unknown is the number of vehicles the firm anticipates producing in 2018, but in 2023 it hopes to reach
a run rate of 150,000 units annually. This is a component of Ford's larger objective to produce
over 2 million electric vehicles annually by 2026,
which would account for over a third of the business's output.
A 131 kWh battery can power the F-150 Lightning electric truck for up to 320 miles (515 km), according to EPA estimates.
