Why did Chrysler discontinue the 300?

Sadly, Chrysler will stop making the 300 sedans to create room for the upcoming lineup of electric and hybrid vehicles. Of course, 

Dodge is also retiring its Charger and Challenger models at the same time as the well-known Chrysler sedan.

But before they leave away for good, all three Mopar models will come in special variants.

The Chrysler 300 has a long history of success as a flexible, inexpensive luxury choice. 

However, the 300 and the equivalent Dodge Charger will soon join the car cemetery.

But is the Chrysler 300 capable of both highway cruising and city cruising? Furthermore,

why would you choose it for your upcoming road-trip vehicle?
